The wine guide · in a nutshell

Sulphites made simple.

What are they used for?

They help preserve wine by protecting it from air and microbes that can spoil it.

‘None added’ does not mean zero

Sulphites can form as grapes turn into wine, even when the winery adds none.

How much does it contain?

The laboratory report states the total SO₂ in mg/L —milligrams per litre—so you can compare bottles.

Will it be easier on you?

Fewer sulphites do not guarantee freedom from headaches or heartburn: alcohol can cause them, and some people are sensitive to sulphites.
